Home-Bibione- Days trips from Bibione

The symbol of Bibione is certainly the immense expanse of golden sand, but it is not the only wonder you can find here. So, what to visit in Bibione and its surroundings?

Nature is certainly one of the main protagonists of this place, where the blue of the sea meets the waters of the lagoon. A visit to Valgrande, a 360-hectare protected natural area with a high level of biodiversity, is a must. It is not unusual to see swans, herons, flamingos, fallow deer, roe deer and horses in the wild among the reeds and shrubs. Moreover, the area is still an embanked fishing valley for breeding sea bream, sea bass and eels using organic methods.

Also not to be missed is a boat trip along the inland canals leading to the Venice lagoon. You can hire small boats without a license or book a tour with an experienced local guide, who will accompany visitors from Porto Baseleghe along the waterways surrounded by the extraordinary natural environment, a nature conservation area where many species of migratory birds breed. Another special feature are the “casoni”, the typical fishermen's houses made of straw that dot the landscape.

Among the most interesting historical and cultural towns to visit near Bibione, besides the renowned Venice, are Caorle, Portogruaro and Concordia Sagittaria. Caorle is a seaside town on the Adriatic coast with an extremely picturesque historic center. It is very reminiscent of a small Venice with narrow streets and pastel-coloured houses. The focal point is undoubtedly the cathedral with a history of over a thousand years behind it and its unique cylindrical bell tower. Portogruaro is a town characterized by Venetian and Renaissance-style buildings with numerous covered arcades lining the streets of the center. The main square houses the distinctive palazzo comunale with its typical Gothic decoration that has made it the symbol of the place, but the real jewel is the mills on the river that have been transformed into a contemporary art gallery. Finally, Concordia Sagittaria is a town with ancient origins dating back to Roman times: in the historic center you can visit the archaeological excavations that have brought to light the mosaics and structure of the ancient Roman buildings.

Here is what to see near Bibione, to spend a holiday dedicated to discovery!
